This programme brings together choral works that explore prayer in its many forms, from personal meditation to communal expression. The first half includes settings by Ernest Bloch, Sven-David Sandström, Arvo Pärt, Knut Nystedt, Ola Gjeilo and John Tavener, drawing on both sacred texts and longstanding liturgical traditions.

After the interval, the focus broadens to themes of renewal, resilience and human connection. Works by Sarah Quartel, William Henry Harris, Ken Burton, Roxanna Panufnik and Moses Hogan offer contrasting musical perspectives while continuing the programme's thread of reflection and reassurance.

Stuart Overington is an accomplished conductor, vocal animator and composer working between Manchester and London, UK with a range of ensembles including the Royal Northern College of Music, Hallé Orchestra and National Children's Choir.
